Group Medical Director

Kingsbridge Healthcare Group are currently seeking to fill the role of Group Medical Director. The successful candidate will be based at Kingsbridge Healthcare Group’s Head Office but may be required to travel to other Company locations, as and when required.

Job Summary

The post holder will have responsibility as Group Medical Director for all companies within Kingsbridge Healthcare Group (KHG), but primarily the hospitals.  The post holder will assume the roles of:

  1. Group Responsible Officer (RO)
  2. Chair of Medical Governance Committee
  3. Chair of Medical Advisory Committees
  4. Lead Anaesthetist for Intensive Care Unit
  5. Lead on Infection Prevention Control for Kingsbridge Healthcare Group
It is anticipated that the post holder’s other role as a Consultant Anaesthetist will continue and will be unaffected by this role.
 
Key Duties & Responsibilities:

During the continuance of the employment the post holder will serve the Company as Group Medical Director and shall;
  1. perform such duties which may from time to time be assigned to them by the Board of Directors, whether those duties relate to the business of the Company, or to the business of any of it’s subsidiaries or associates; specifically:
  • The strategic leadership of the governance function of the Group;
  • Lead and oversee the incidents and complaints processes;
  • Lead and oversee the management of conferring of group practising privileges ;
  • Chairing of the Medical Advisory Committees of the Group’s hospitals;
  • Oversee the appraisal process for those doctors currently not appraised in their respective Trusts. The employee will be responsible for Consultant appraisal but will sign off appraisals of GPs / RMOs carried out by others;
  • Be responsible for the safe delivery of healthcare services in accordance with best practise and in line with GMC / IMC guiding principles;
  • Work with the hospital CEO, general managers and regulatory teams in the Group’s hospitals to ensure regulatory compliance is achieved to the highest standards;
  • Provide medical guidance to ensure any new services comply with best practise regulations;
  • Assume the role of Responsible Officer for the Group;
  • Assume the role of Group GMC “point of contact” and attend annual meetings with GMC liaison officer;
  •  Assume the role of lead anaesthetist for ICU and IPC lead for Kingsbridge Healthcare Group.
  1. in all respects comply with directions given by or under the authority of the Board;
  2. use his/her best endeavours to promote the interests of the Company; and
  3. unless prevented by incapacity, devote the whole of his/her time, attention and abilities during the agreed hours of work to the performance of his/her duties under the contract.

Qualifications GMC Registration with a Current Licence to Practice
Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthetics
 
 
Leadership and Management Experience of managing & leading staff
Proven experience of leading organisational change
Strong persuasive, influencing, negotiating and interpersonal skills
Able to communicate clearly and confidently on complex subjects and ideas to diverse professional audiences
 
Experience of working at Board level.
