Breast Care Services

At 3fivetwo Healthcare we promote the importance of early detection of breast cancer and aim to provide accurate and expedient answers to any questions about breast health.

Our Breast Cancer Care Service is available for anyone concerned with breast health issues. We offer both screening and diagnostic breast services.

We have recently installed state of the art digital mammography equipment, which enables us to provide high quality diagnostic images and is only the second scanner of this specification in N Ireland. This, together with our ultrasound imaging service enables us to offer the latest in multi-modality breast imaging under one roof, thus making it easier for a accurate and fast diagnosis.

Breast Screening Services

Screening mammograms and general 'breast awareness' are currently the best way for women over 40 to detect cancer at an early stage, making treatment more effective.

Some ladies may wish to avail of our breast screening service as part of a breast health check. This allows you to self-refer for mammogram if you meet the following criteria:

You must be

v  Be aged 40+

v  Have no breast symptoms

v  Not have had a recent mammogram, i.e. within the last year

If you fulfil the above criteria and wish to have a mammogram you can contact us at the Medical Imaging Centre to arrange for an appointment.

A screening mammogram can also be carried out for female staff as part of an employer’s corporate health-care package.

One stop Breast Care

This allows ladies under the age of forty and symptomatic patients to be examined by a breast surgeon and undergo the necessary tests (mammography, ultrasound, and fine needle aspiration) to reach a diagnosis that same day.

Our multi-disciplinary team consists of dedicated breast surgeons, radiologists with a special interest in breast disease, mammographers and pathologists.

When the breast surgeon examines your breasts they may be able to reassure you that there is nothing to worry about, or they may refer you for further diagnostic tests, e.g. Mammography or ultrasound.

What is a mammogram - is it painful?

  • A mammogram is an x-ray, which uses a low dose of radiation to provide an image of your breast. It can detect most breast cancers at an early stage.
  • Two flat surfaces will compress each breast  (Compression is necessary to produce diagnostic images)
  • Some  women do find this uncomfortable but it is not generally painful and does no damage
