64 Slice CT Scanner

3fivetwo have invested heavily in the most up-to-date technology available. At the core of the Imaging Centre is our 64 Channel CT scanner, (which delivers one of the lowest possible radiation doses in Ireland) with Philips Ambiscene lighting system. This controls and changes the colour and intensity of light in the scanning room and has been proven to aid relaxation by creating a comforting ambience during your examination.

CT is a painless, non-invasive and accurate method of imaging soft tissue, bone and blood vessels, which provides true multi-planar, 3&4D images of the entire body. It has become an important tool in medical imaging and is a sensitive method for diagnosis of a wide range of conditions.

An exciting development in this field is the use of CT for the assessment of coronary artery disease. It can provide information about the coronary arteries and bypass grafts, ventricular size and function, cardiac structure and masses, pulmonary vein anatomy and the presence of coronary artery plaque.

More recently CT is being utilised in preventive medicine or screening for disease, for example, the use of CT virtual colonoscopy for patients with a high risk of colon cancer.
